Biography & Class Description
| This class blends classical theatre dance with Al’s own edgy jazz style. Inspired by the work of Astaire, Robbins and Fosse, this class emphasizes dancers’ ability to use their musicality, focus, technique and instinct. A thorough technical warm-up is followed by across-the-floor and a combination. A positive vibe and high energy atmosphere make this a great class for theatre dance professionals and beginners alike! |
Theatre Dance
Al Blackstone began his training with his parents at their school in New Jersey. He has been featured in various television and live events, including NBC's American Dreams and a commercial for TLC's Trading Spaces, dancing with Paige Davis. Al was a performer and Assistant Choreographer for an episode of Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh Show, and was dance captain for a revival of AC Ciulla's Footloose in 2005. He has performed at the International Dance Festival of Korea with Liz Imperio's Instincts Live Media Dance Company, and in Nights on Broadway 3 at Caesars in Atlantic City. He currently teaches and choreographs all over the United States, and is thrilled to be teaching theatre dance here at NDG!
