Biography & Class Description

Bob Boross is known internationally as a teacher and choreographer of musical theatre and concert jazz dance. After dancing on Broadway in the 1981 revival of Can-Can, Bob was the head of jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance at the University of California at Irvine. He has led classes at BDC, DanceSpace, and New Dance Group. International teaching and choreography credits - 3rd International Jazz Dance Forum and Studio Harmonic in Paris, France; Kannon Dance Company, St. Petersburg, Russia; Just Jazz Dance Company, Tampere, Finland; Millennium Dance 2000, London, England; and Pro Danza Italia, Italy. Bob has choreographed Equity productions of Annie Get Your Gun, and non-Equity productions of Victor/Victoria, Guys and Dolls, ...Forum, Blood Brothers, and The Pirates of Penzance.

Advanced Beginner Jazz

The jazz dance class of is based in the stylistic tradition of freestyle jazz legend Matt Mattox, along with influences from contemporary, commercial and Broadway dancing. Bob's technique stresses isolation, movement in plie, rhythmic awareness, alignment and spatial awareness of body lines. Combinations are created to music styles ranging from jazz, blues, pop, rock, Latin and Broadway. The class is designed to instill a strong movement technique at the advanced beginner level through helpful corrections and repetition of core concepts.

Intermediate/Advanced Jazz

The jazz dance class is based in the stylistic tradition of freestyle jazz legend Matt Mattox, along with influences from contemporary, commercial and Broadway dancing. Bob's technique stresses isolation, movement in plie, rhythmic awareness, alignment and spatial awareness of body lines. Combinations are created to music styles ranging from jazz, blues, pop, rock, Latin and Broadway. The class builds a strong, precise, energized dancer who is capable of executing virtually any movement a choreographer may give.
