Biography & Class Description

Susan holds a B.A. in Theater Arts and is trained in Ballroom Dance and instruction.  She originally came to Pilates through Lisa Graham, founder and owner of Agile Monkey Pilates in Santa Cruz, California.  Pilates taught Susan to work with, rather than against, many of her postural deviations, which she constantly struggled with in her performing arts careers.  She studied for several years with Jeannette Palmer who inspired and encouraged her to pursue teaching. Susan received her training through the Pilates Academy International, with Pilates on Fifth in New York City.  She welcomes students of all fitness levels and incorporates modifications appropriate for each individual to ensure that the student is working optimally and safely for their own body, skill level, and background.

Pilates

Throughout the class, participants are introduced to and refine their knowledge of Joseph Pilates' techniques and practices. Sculpting the body and increasing flexibility, the method specifically focuses on strengthening the core while simultaneously maximizing mobility and comfort of the spinal column. Each student is encouraged to work at their own level to achieve a greater sense of physical awareness. The class embraces all ages, body types, fitness levels, and special physical conditions.  Th 60 minute "lunchtime" class provides an energizing and well-rounded workout, while the 90 minute session allows for more focus on stretching and steadily advancing the student to the next level.
