Biography & Class Description
Shelley Frankel was a soloist with the Donald McKayle Company and a principal dancer and assistant choreographer with the Jamie Rogers Dance Company. She performed with Walter Nicks Company, Bob Hamilton Trio, Augie & Margo Dance Troup and Claude Thompson Dance Company. Ms. Frankel performed roles in Guys and Dolls at City Center, The King and I at the Westbury Music Fair, Around the World in 80 Days and Paradise Island at the Jones Beach Marine Theater. On Broadway, she appeared in No Strings and understudied the role of Anita in the road company production of West Side Story. Ms. Frankel has appeared on television in The Dinah Shore Show, as well as several CBS Specials. She has been on faculty at numerous schools and dance centers as well as serving as director of the Dance Center in Albertson, Long Island. Recently, Ms. Frankel performed in a week of concerts at Dance Theater Workshop, and appeared in Woody Allen’s Everyone Says I Love You.

enjoyable.
Jazz
This upbeat class begins with a challenging
barre and center warm-up, focusing on
placement, control, strength and stretch.
The dance combinations vary from class
to class in order to expose the students
to a variety of styles and rhythms.
Ms. Frankel’s approach is positive, yet
demanding. She teaches with a keen eye
towards the individual, with sensitivity and
a sense of humor.
