Biography & Class Description
Roy Lozano has appeared as a professional dancer and actor on Broadway, on tour and in Summerstock theater. He is also an accomplished pianist and photographer. Mr. Lozano has taught extensively both in this country and abroad, in university settings and professional studios. He has been a staff member at all the major schools of dance in New York City, and on the faculty of several colleges including Vassar, SUNY New Platz and Marymount Manhattan College, where he taught for over four years as part of both the dance and theater departments.
Jazz
Mr. Lozano teaches a style of jazz dance
based on the technique of Jack Cole, the
widely acclaimed Father of Jazz and a
major presence on Broadway and in
Hollywood from the 1930s to the 1960s.The style is grounded and articulated,
emphasizing clean lines, sharp accents
and precise isolations. Discipline and
commitment are required to master this
technique. However, you will be
rewarded by becoming a strong, flexible
dancer who is able to meet the challenges
of contemporary musical theater.
