Biography & Class Description
Mark Santoro is one of the most sought after dance teachers in the industry today. He has taught and adjudicated for every major dance organization in the United States, as well as internationally in Mexico, Canada and Italy. He is the recipient of numerous dance awards given by Dance Masters of America and DanceEducators of America for his continuing education in dance. Currently, he is on the distinguished faculty of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. He began his dance training at the age of three under the direction of his mother, Myra Santoro, in Hamden, Connecticut. He furthered his dance training by studying with top teachers in New York City, where he met his mentor, Charles (Chuck) Kelley with whom he has been associated for over 30 years. Mark has studied with David Howard, Phil Black, Lee Theodore, Nancy Beilski, Rick Atwell, Michelle Assaf, Michael Owens and Charles Hughes. He has appeared on Broadway and in the national touring companies of Gypsy, Sophisticated Ladies, The Tap Dance Kid, Carrie, A Chorus Line, Cats, Damn Yankees, Busker Alley and Show Boat. His choreography has been seen by millions in the ‘96 and ‘98 Super Bowls, the ‘97 Sea-Doo trade show at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas and for five years at the New Year’s Eve Show at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Regional Theatre choreography includes Dames At Sea (Studio Arena) Dames At Sea (theatre Row revival starring Kristen Chenoweth in NYC) Footloose, Annie Get Your Gun, Jesus Christ Superstar (Gateway Playhouse), Mame and Forty Second Street (Arts Center of Coastal Carolina).
