Biography & Class Description
Lucy Turull is a dancer and actress who was born and raised in New York. Lucy comes from a diverse background that includes Belly Dance, Ballroom, Avanguarde and Jazz, as well as Belly Dance clothing and jewelry design and photography. Lucy started teaching Ballroom dance at the age of 17 at the famous Fred Astaire Dance Studios, and has come full circle to the dance she really loves: Belly Dance. By practicing a holistic approach to her lifestyle, Lucy has been able to put together a spiritual combination that she passes on to her students. Lucy has worked with the internationally acclaimed Italian Group Espace Rythmic, touring in Europe and performing here in New York City. She was also a regular attraction at Webster Hall, dancing Rock Fusion with her Python Snake named "Strong," and doing numerous MTV commercials for Webster Hall. Lucy has appeared in several movies, such as To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, and Roseland the Movie, as well as the TV pilot Central Park West. Lucy’s love for Belly Dance inspired her to open her Belly Dance school. Over the years she has created her own and unique style of Belly Dance. Lucy is proud to bring what she calls the Ultimate Fusion Belly Dance to the dance floor. She believes that belly dance is for everyone! Belly Dance
Are you ready for a hip-shaking, sensual class that stimulates your body and soul? Belly Dancing gets you in tune with your inner queen. This class fuses several dance styles into this beautiful Middle Eastern dance, and will surprise you from time to time with live drums to take you to the next level. This class offers basic Belly Dance broken down for the beginner, and slowly builds into an exciting and gorgeous dance. The class incorporates traditional styles of Belly Dance with touches of Flamenco and Salsa, making this an exciting fusion Belly Dance class. Students will start off slowly with techniques called “scratch class” as well as a touch of meditation. Once students reach the beginner/intermediate level, they are introduced to props such as veils, cills, swords and wings. Warning…this class can be habit forming! |
