Biography & Class Description
Jeramy Zimmerman is a yoga teacher, choreographer and performer. She holds degrees in dance from Stephens College (BFA) and Tisch School of the Arts (MFA). As a yoga teacher, she is certified by OM Yoga. She is the Program Manager of the Lineage Project, which brings yoga and meditation to incarcerated and at-risk youth in New York City. Jeramy has been teaching dance to people of all ages for 15 years. Jeramy has been on the teaching faculties of Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Dance Institute of Washington, AileyCamp Maryland, Suitland High School for Visual and Performing Arts, as well as numerous in-school, after-school and summer dance programs. She is a teaching artist with the Orchestra of St. Luke's. Jeramy is the founder and director of CatScratch Theatre, a dance performance company dedicated to public performance in unexpected spaces. Her choreography has been performed on the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage and Dance Place in Washington DC, as well as in NYC venues as varied as Joe's Pub, Joyce Soho, the sidewalks of Wall Street and the Staten Island Ferry.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Jeramy teaches a yoga class that examines the close link between breath and movement. Whether you are an experienced yoga practicioner or are coming to yoga looking for something to balance your dance training, this vinyasa-style class is for you. The sequences help activate your legs and core as well as open up areas of tightness and build upper-body strength. Special attention is paid to the flow of movement and transitions between poses. Variations are given to accomodate students of all levels, fostering an atmosphere of self-challenge and acceptance. |
