Determining the value of human life:

Can a monetary value be placed on human life? Who makes the distinction of worth and what message is this saying about the value of human life? An issue facing Congress now is the system of “condolence pay” to innocent civilian deaths in Iraq – to replace the old system with a new one where Congress would decide the reparation. Many believe that this would create transparency and an actual number of innocent human lives lost in war – a first for American wars.

In an effort to create a free flow of information about the victims of this tragedy - we would like to take the opportunity to speak out about the victims, those that have really been affected instead of placing focus on the criminal, the blame and the speculations.

Proposed regulations of filming/photography in New York City threaten first amendment rights?

Our laws already restrict our rights to parade, dance, bike and assemble - is filming next? Propsed regluations would require even casual photographers and filmmakers (a group of two or more people who want to use a camera in a public location for more than half an hour) to obtain a city permit and $1 million in liability insurance. According to the NY Civil Liberties Union, “these regulations violate the First Amendment right to photograph in public places, and open the door to selective and discriminatory enforcement.
